Android Engineer
As the company grows we have evolving requirements and needs for our mobile apps, FAIRTIQ and FTQ Lab.
Our goal is to provide the best post-price ticketing user experience and grow our user base. Providing a good user experience is a challenge that requires a lot of thought and understanding of our users.
You will work with designers and engineers to find ways of improving our apps and create a delightful user experience. FAIRTIQ has a growing user base of 1.5M+ active users every month, so you will have to think about scalability, caching, internationalisation, accessibility, phased roll-outs and resilience.
Here are some real examples of recent and future work that might help you get a better idea of what this job entails:
- Implementing an Activity Feed
- Implementing a Timetable using Compose Multiplatform
- Integrating a new Design System, together with other mobile squads
- Adding support for multiple payments service providers
- Modernising our authentication methods with Social Logins
- Implementing new features in Compose UI and planning migration from classic views.
- Implementing screens with accessibility in mind, keeping our certification up to date
- Adapting our Spring Boot backend to cater for new app needs
- Reducing tech debt in our codebase by removing support for older Android versions and taking advantage of improvement opportunities this provides.
Role Responsibilities
- Design and implement new features in our mobile apps, used actively by 1.5M+ users and contributing to millions of public transport journeys.
- Make sure that the existing features are always up and running
- Write testable, simple, clean and efficient code
- Release and monitor apps, making use of automation tools to immediately publish the changes you make in the app stores
- Take an active role in our processes and help improve them
- Work together with other developers, graphic designers, UX and product experts to expand our solution worldwide
- Take responsibilities in the team and lead technical projects
Who are we looking for?
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science or another related field
- At least 5 years of professional experience as a mobile engineer
- Knowledge of Android and striving to develop mobile skills further (experience developing for iOS is a plus, being able to collaborate closely with engineers active in the other platform is a must)
- Knowledge or willingness to learn Kotlin/Compose Multiplatform
- Knowledge of mobile architectures, OS and ecosystem
- Strong software design skills
- Analytical thinking
- Good team player
- Creative, self-confident, independent
- Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills
- Based in Switzerland

Recruitment Process
- Screening interview with Pedro (from the People Team): ~45 minutes
- Tech Screening & Coding interview: 90 minutes
- System & Software Design interview: 120 minutes
